Hello All, Just bought the Mbox2 Pro.. I installed PT on my brandnew Dell XPS laptop, but it couldnt find the hardware.. Not even the plug&play reacted to the hardware... So I got a new firewire cable.. Now plug&play found it, but I left that alone (just like the manual told me to)..but, still, PT couldnt find the hardware. I then updated the software with the 7.1.2r2... No difference.. I then uninstalled PT, and uninstalled the Mbox2 pro driver (that actually was there) in the device manager...and started all over again: 1)plugged in the hardware (plug&play found it, but I left it alone) 2)installed PT 3)installed the 7.1.2r2 update 4)tried to start PT, but it still couldnt locate the hardware I took it to the local music store today. They had another Mbox2 Pro there, so we tried plugging in that hardware, but nothing.. Even tried yet another firewire cable and also changing the power adapter, but to no avail I will be leaving for tour on Tuesday, and will be gone until xmas. I need some help fast, so I can get this working while I have still have unlimited internet access and local support (music store) All/any help and advice gratefully accepted!! /Dune
Hello SPK I forgot to mention that Ive tried that as well. Now when I plug in the hardware, Windows detects something is being plugged in (win-sound clip is played), but no "install new hardware"-dialogue window appears /Dune

It sounds pretty obvious that your MBOX 2 Pro is the problem. Since you swapped everything else with known working components, the only common thing that make it not work is the unit itself. Ask to have it swapped out by the store that sold it to you. They won't like it but if it is defective, they should take it back.
Well, I have tried another hardware unit and another power adapter unit, but that made no difference. You could be right if you mean that it could be my software, but somehow I doubt it. Also, I cant take it back to the store where I actually bought it. I spent 5 months (and still counting!!) waiting for the upgrade from my old Mbox to a OO2 through Digidesign, which is waaay too long (duh!) So when I saw the Mbox2 Pro in a music store in the UK, I bought it straight away. I live in Sweden, so no luck with taking it back. Luckily the people at my local music store now also have the Mbox2 Pro and they are trying to be as helpful as possible /D

check your windows settings. is plug and play enabled? is your firewire messed up? if you have different slots try those, im sure you did already...do you have the service pack 2 with windows? i forgot how to do it, but i think you can go to device manager by right clicking on my computer > properties > hardware > device manager and see if its listed in there. if everything youve done hasnt worked, AND youve tried different computers AND different Mboxs, you're doing something wrong with the installation....or you updated to the wrong, unsupported patches that digidesign lets out.
Sometimes it is necessary to remove the firewire devices from the control pannel and then have it re-detect it to enaure the drivers are loaded right. It may be a case where the drivers it is using are having a problem but since the driver is already there, it doesn't go to reload the driver. When you say that plug&play detects something when you plug it in but doesn't go to load drivers, that is an indication about what I just described. Give it a try and good luck.
