Azidts problem - Major

Caution when using azidts to do movie soundtracks. Somewhere in the decoding process the Bitrate gets screwed up. The offshoot of this is that syning back to original video is very hard/impossible to do. But using Hypercube Transcoder - perfect syncing. Hard to understand, as they both use the same filters from windvd. Unless the problem is in the besweet dll or the way it is used? azidts v0.1 by zmAn ------------------- Using BeSweet.dll v1.5b17 by DSPguru () Logging start : 01/11/04 , 07:27:21. azidts -core( -input i:\temp\1.dts -output i:\temp\1no.wav -6chwav -logfile i:\temp\besweet.log ) [00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet ----- [00:00:00:000]

According to my calculations 4608 is the correct wav bitrate for a 6 channel 48khz 16 bit wav file (48000 hz * 16 bits/sample * 6 channels), and 4233 would be the correct bitrate for 44100 Hz(44100 * 16 * 6). Why do you think it should be 4233 for a 48khz file? Is Hypercube Transcoder downsampling perhaps? Why do you think this has something to do with audio sync?

You are right about the Bitrates. Any way the same DTS file ripped with both methods produces a filesize that is a lot bigger for the azidts rip. 418 vs 400 mb. The playing length of the original is 6.36, and azidts produces 7.11. Hypercube does not! There is something in azidts causing this? For music, I don't care as it still sounds okay, but movie, will - a problem.

How did you install azidts? Be aware that it needs a DirectShow filter made by Gabest (dtssource.ax) which had some issues with certain DTS bitrates. Better grab a current copy from the homepage. It has the name ac3dtssrc.ax AFAIK. Maybe that solves that problem. Also I think Hypercube resamples to 44.1 kHz by default. tiki4

Yup, Hypercube is quite good, but azidts offers the ability to encode to other formats as well. With newer versions of BeSweet you can have 5.1 AAC directly, for example. Glad I could help you. tiki4
