I am wondering how to record information from a "midi" track in protools to a separate "audio track" so that I can edit soundwaves rather than midi notes. I think it may have something to do with my signal routing. I have 1 midi track, 1 aux, and one audio track. I did it earlier but for some reason I am having trouble now. I am recording MIDI just fine. Basically I want to RECORD the MIDI info to a separate AUDIO track and have it show up in waveform. Sorry for repeating myself, I just wanted to make sure I was being clear and consise. I would really appreciate a step by step answer such as: 1. Twist lightbulb counterclockwise 2. Remove from socket 3. Insert finger 4. turn on lightswitch 5. Place foot in bathtub Thanks ahead of time to anyone who answers.
if you want to use the aux bus to record your audio instead of just recording it directly to a new track, i think you need to include a stereo master fader in there as well ACK
If you dont want to Bounce and re-import then you could try this; Just arm the record button in the track which the Audio from the MIDI is routed and record...EASY... It is a bit quidker than bouncing becoz it saves you re-importing LUD
The responce prior to this one is what I was succesfully doing before. Could you explain more thouroughly how you would route the midi track in order to "record" it on to a seperate "audio" track. For some reason everytime I try to set up a buss, I just record silence. I know this is so easy but it is just driving me crazy. As before a numbered step by step instruction would make the most sense to me and most other people rather than an explanation. I pre-thank you my aussie friend or anyone else who answers. regards jamesinseattle
i think the first thing i would want to know it how you have your studio setup. even without bussing and auxillary tracks you should be able to record to an armed audio track without any problems. questions what sound source are you using where is it plugged into your mbox when you play a midi sequence does the aux bus peak meters register any activity (make sure auto input monitor is active) from there i think we can work out whats wrong. its probably one simple step that you missed out thats causing all this brewhaha ACK
in other words.. set the input of your audio track (the one you want to record to) the same as the input of your aux track.. if the midi is making it to the aux on input 3/4.. then it will make it to the audio track if it is set to 3/4.. get it? and oh obviously after setting inputs.. record enable and go tim
