Digitizing for DC30?

MessageAuthor

We are digitizing some tapes for a session, and also would like to provide the files to the client. We're on a G4/800 HD system with an Aurora Igniter, using Adobe Premiere 6. I've attempted digitizing with the Aurora presets for Premiere, 360x243 at 600K/sec. This looks fine on our Igniter system, but when I take it to the client's system, with a Miro card, the video on the NTSC monitor displays in the center of the screen, with black all around (imagine letterboxed, but all the way around) He doesn't seem to be able to work with the higher-resolution 720x486 800K/sec picture we're using, either. Any ideas? Is the resolution set wrong? Unfortunately, I don't really have access to his system to keep testing different settings. Thanks-

RE: Digitizing for DC30?

I did some tests a couple of years ago using the Igniter and a Fuse card. Turned out that the Fuse needed 320x240 (or 640x480) to be able to display picture properly. At the time, the Iginiter did not support that resolution for digitizing. We abandoned our plans to use the Igniter for digitizing based on that incompatibility. Since the Miro DC 30 is basically the same thing as a Fuse card, it probably has the same incompatability. If Aurora (or whoever owns Igniter these days) has updated their software, try digitizing at 320x 240 and see if that works with the DC 30. rcm

The DC30 wants to see Motion JPEG-A, ONE field per frame. If you feed it 2 fields per frame, it will play back squished. HTH

It's not really "squished", it just seems that the digitized picture isn't filling the entire screen. Are you sure about the 640x480 or 320x240 resolution? I believe that the Igniter will do it now... Thanks!

Igniters can now use 640x480 and 320x240. I believe the Fuse 2.0.3 software allows it to play back Igniter-captured video, too, but i don't know if this means 360x240 or not.
