Delay in my headphones?

MessageAuthor

Hi all, new here.. new to Reaper. I was doing most of my recording on my Iphone using MultitrackDaw, but I've decided to step it up and I got an interface and Reaper. I've managed to make a quick recording with 3 tracks BUT when I want monitor (Record Monitoring: On) in my headphones there's a big dealy on what I do/hear. I've looked at everything I can think of I'm stumped. I have Input Mono: left applied..and get sound but with the delay.. when I do right, or anything else I hear nothing. This may be an amateur question.. but., I'm an amateur! Thanks in advance for any guidance.

RE: Delay in my headphones?

Hey, everybody's got to learn sometime. ;) What kind of interface did you get? Are you using an ASIO 'driver' for your sound card? Does it have a headphone jack on it? If so use the headphone jack on your interface (direct monitoring). What you are hearing is 'latency' and the settings on your sound card may be able to be tweaked a bit to get that latency under control. So a little more info please.

RE: Delay in my headphones?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Apparently I have alot of learning to do haha I finally found my answer and I think it's what you were getting at. I didnt have mine set to ASIO... wich I have no idea what that means.. but it worked! I got a PreSonus Firestudio 'project' My friend has the same one but he uses a different program to record with. It usually comes with StudioOne I think but I bought mine used with no disc, and from what Ive gathered Reaper is a little more user friendly anyway. Again, thanks alot. Now I'm goig to go read this whole forum before I do anything else..
