WAVES - WUP It Good!

MessageAuthor

If you think Waves is going to lower its WUP-ASS upgrade prices, think again. In fact... they just raised them! When I first learned of the existence of v5 (10 days ago?), I visited the Waves web site, logged into my account, learned that WUP-ASS had expired, checked the v5 upgrade prices for the bundles I own, and -- finally -- took some notes. $511.59 - Platinum TDM * $292.34 - 360 Surround TDM $146.17 - Restoration NATIVE ------------------------- $950.10 - TOTAL While writing about my eternal love for Waves and its business practices, I needed my WUP-ASS v5 prices. For the sake of convenience and expediency, I again visited my account online. When I checked the prices, something didn't look right. I dug out my filed notes and... sure enough, the WUP-ASS prices went up! To wit: Thursday, July 22, 2004 (03:06 AM) $521.95 - Platinum TDM * $298.26 - 360 Surround TDM $149.13 - Restoration NATIVE ------------------------- $969.34 - TOTAL That is a 2% increase. In response, I increased my eternal love for Waves by a WUP-PING 3%.

I swear, its getting worse and worse. I think they really want to go out of business or at least alienate lots of good customers. Please send them an email and ask them what they are thinking, cause I would love to hear what the excuse is. I also want to know why it costs different amounts for different people to upgrade the same product.

Waves is an Israeli based company. They operate off of Tel Aviv. Therefore their prices fluctuate according to Euro.

Waves plugs are really good, and we all understand that it costs to pay for R&D, however it seems ridiculous some of the prices. At some point one has to evaluate if their commercial business will support constant upgrade fees. Dont get me wrong, i love mixing in the box - but at least when you bought a hardware piece in the past you got the functionality of the device until it eigther broke down or you sold it.

And it didn't cost you a $150 to sell it to someone else either...

RE: WAVES - WUP It Good!

I guess I lucked out. I just got v5 for ALL my waves plug ins for free. On top of that, (even though I knew how to do it myself), I personally called WAVES Tech, and had them walk me through the upgrade process, all the way from the first click on the website, to launching Pro Tools and making sure my entire Waves Collection is working fine as Version 5 in my set up. Just to make them high priced BA$TA#DS work for their money...'Cause besides this complaint you all are saying about this update thing,,, I THINK their normal off the shelf prices are just to damn high.. Like someone said earlier in this post, I do undersand the cost of R&D and stuff, but take some advice from the multi-platinum selling video games companies, and Music artist out there, THERE prices will go down dramatically (guarenteed) once they become a "major" icon in the bussiness they are in... That is passing on the good buck, and showing appretiation to the customers. But one thing I will say for sure,, is their Tech was awesome, very helpful, free, didn't ask me for a million different numbers and id's to make sure I was me,, just helped me fast, and everything worked excellently.. I have Waves Platinum Bundle, as well as the Waves IR1 Reverb all updated to v.5 for free.... and was walked through the proceedure VERY WELL.............
